Axel Disasi not happy as Chelsea talks with Aston Villa stall

TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey can confirm that discussions between Villa and Chelsea for Axel Disasi are not progressing.

As things stand, Chelsea’s directors have not accepted the departure of the French defender, though this could yet change.

TBR Football sources can also confirm that, from Villa’s end, they’ve said they are waiting on the green light.

Villa believed that the deal was progressing to the point where player was due for his medical in the next 24 hours.

The player, for his part, has made it clear to Chelsea he wants to leave and join Villa. He is not happy.

TBR Football understand that Juventus have also made contact to sign Disasi from Chelsea.

In addition, Villa are also still pushing for Juan Foyth too – they want both players. Foyth is currently sitting out training with Villarreal.

Disasi’s current situation at Chelsea

Disasi, who Chelsea signed in a £38.5m move from Monaco back in August 2023, has struggled under Enzo Maresca so far this season.

Since the turn of the year, Disasi has picked up just 13 minutes of Premier League football, coming off the bench against Wolves.

However, the France international did play the full 90 minutes in the FA Cup win over Morecambe.

Trevoh Chalobah’s recall from his loan spell at Crystal Palace is likely to push Disasi further down the pecking order at Chelsea.

It remains to be seen whether negotiations pick up pace again, but with the transfer deadline just days away, time is running out.
