Arsenal will look to claw back a 2-0 deficit in their League Cup semi-final when they head to Newcastle United for their second leg on Wednesday night.

The Gunners were undone by goals from Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon in the first leg at the Emirates Stadium in January.

However, Arsenal will be in confident mood after running out 5-1 winners over reigning Premier League champions Manchester City at the weekend.

Arsenal v Newcastle team news

Arteta confirmed at his pre-match presser that there are no fresh injury worries since the Man City game.

Defender Ben White is set to miss out on the Newcastle clash, with Arteta expecting him back after the break.

Bukayo Saka remains out, while fellow forward Gabriel Jesus is a long-term absentee for Arsenal.

As for Newcastle, Joelinton and Callum Wilson face late fitness tests ahead of their meeting with the Gunners.

Arsenal predicted XI v Newcastle

With Arsenal having no fresh issues since the Man City game, Arteta can afford to name a strong line-up against Newcastle.

The Gunners are likely to stick with the core of the XI that took Man City apart.

David Raya is likely to remain in goal, with Myles Lewis-Skelly, Gabriel Magalhaes, William Saliba and Jurrien Timber set to keep their places in defence.

Although Riccardo Calafiori could very well come in at left-back, we predict he won’t dislodge Lewis-Skelly on this occasion.

Likewise, the Arsenal midfield is likely to be unchanged, with Declan Rice, Thomas Partey and Martin Odegaard making up the central three.

The one potential change for the Gunners could come in attack as Arteta looks to find solutions to a front line without Bukayo Saka.

Arsenal predicted starting XI v Newcastle United

We predict Ethan Nwaneri will get the nod on the right, with Gabriel Martinelli on the left flank and Kai Havertz leading the line.

This would see Leandro Trossard drop out, though the £27million man would be a great option off the bench when Newcastle legs tire.

Arteta did suggest that Nwaneri could potentially cover at centre-forward, but the likelihood is he won’t be tested on this occasion.

Arsenal predicted XI v Newcastle (4-3-3): Raya; Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Lewis-Skelly; Odegaard, Partey, Rice; Nwaneri, Havertz, Martinelli
