The January transfer window has just closed, and teams will be hoping that their new signings can make big impacts.
Worst case scenario, these players will end up being flops, best case scenario, these players will end up being club legends.
Everton weren’t all that busy in January, but they did make one signing on deadline day in the shape of Carlos Alcaraz.
Everton think Alcaraz will be a good signing, but it would take some doing for the Argentine to be considered among the best signings in the club’s history.
Indeed, speaking to Sky Sports, Clinton Morrison has been discussing some of the best transfers in Premier League history, and he says that the Toffees actually made the most underrated signing of the Premier League era.
Seamus Coleman is the most underrated signing in Premier League history
Morrison was asked to name who he believes is the most underrated signing in Premier League history.
The pundit was quick to respond, claiming that Seamus Coleman was a very underrated addition at Everton due to his incredibly low fee and remarkable longevity.
“Most underrated signing?” Morrison was asked.
“Seamus Coleman, I think Seamus Coleman. They bought him from Ireland for £75k I think it was. His longevity there now in the Premier League and stuff, Seamus Coleman all day long. No debate I don’t think,” Morrison said.
Seamus Coleman’s value for money
As Morrison says, Coleman cost Everton barely anything – the fee was reported at just £60k.
That surely makes the Irishman one of the best value for money signings in Premier League history.

Coleman is still a very important figure at Everton, even if he doesn’t play as much these days.
Frank Lampard loved Coleman during his time at Goodison Park, while Sean Dyche was also a huge fan of Coleman.
The right-back is seemingly ever manager’s dream, and now, he’s back working under the man who first brought him to Merseyside – David Moyes.
At just £60k, Coleman has to be considered one of the best, and one of the most underrated, signings in Premier League history.
Any Premier League club would do well to find a bargain like this.
