However, while a deal is all but done, Dorgu won’t be making his United debut just yet, with the club bowing down to a request from the defender during negotiations.
Patrick Dorgu to play one more game for Lecce before signing for Man United
Despite being due to jet into England this weekend to seal his move, sources have confirmed to TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey that during talks, Patrick Dorgu made it clear to United that he wanted to play in the game with Parma which could be crucial in the Serie A relegation battle. Only goal difference separates the two sides – with Lecce currently third from bottom.
Dorgu has already agreed personal terms on a five-year deal and he will sign that at Old Trafford this weekend.
He is due for his medical on Saturday and will be at the game with Crystal Palace on Sunday.
Why Ruben Amorim wants Patrick Dorgu at Manchester United
The new United boss is clearly keen to make big changes at Man United and he’s shown no remorse in being vocal about the likes of Marcus Rashford and Anthony moving on.
Still, he needs to make signings to replace those players leaving and it looks like he’s going to get a deal for Dorgu done.
Amorim is thought to admire three key attributes about Dorgu, with the youngster’s physicality, athleticism, and technical ability believed to have impressed the United boss.
Dorgu, then, could have little time to make a splash as Amorim looks for immediate improvements.
